Bre: How come Marlena dosen't leave her husband if he was hitting her? He sounds like a mean guy and that should never have to happen to anyone. She sounds like a strong person by being able to put up with that. The book that you are reading kind of sounds like the book we read in class because it was about a dad that hit the mother and she ignored it and dident think it was really affecting the family.
Mikaela: I agree with you Heather does sound like a really mean person that was just using Melinda. You should not do that to friends when they are being nice to you and trying to help you out. If I was Melinda when Heather was trying to be nice I would have told her not to help because she ditched her for popular people. Friends should never do that to friends. Melinda was just trying to help Heather sence she was new and had no friends yet
Steven: Are stories are a lot alike because they both take place a while ago and are flashback and memories of the main characters. My book goes from the present back to when he was a young man growing up in the 1930's. The plot's may be very different but the way the stories are told are very similar. Are books are easy to compare.
Julie I agree with you. I also think that lucy should tell somebody about her secrets instead of keeping it to herself. Your book is like mine in a way. In my book, the main character gets raped but does not tell anybody about it. I thought the same way as you. I think that it would help her more than just her trying to get through it herself. If she would just tell, her life would be better.
Justin, I had the same problem you are having right now when I read A Child Called "IT". In that book, I also could never tell if the father was nice or not. I also could not tell if he was an alcoholic. In that book, he also seemed nice at times, but then at other times he seemed like he just did not care about the kids. Also, at times he would try to help the kids from his mother. At other times, he just stood by and watched. In the end, it ended up that he was an alcoholic, and he ended up leaving his family.
Julie The situation in your book reminded me of A Step From Heaven. When you said that the mother blames the daughter for her mistakes, it reminded me of how Uhmma said that it was all Ju's fault that Apa left them. Other than that though, it seems like Lucy and her mother fight mroe. In A Step From Heaven, I think that Young Ju and Uhmma get along more often than in your book.
Brad: West and I were both assigned in the non-fiction unit to read Into the Wild, and throughout all of the book, I felt the same way. I think it was completely idiotic of Chris to just march his way into the wilderness and expect to survive. I would sometimes be upset that he died, but there were points in the book where I wished Chris had lived. I think it was still stupid to go into the wild with no equipment and no experience. I feel like he could've done wonders in the world if he'd went to college.
Maranda: You’re novel seems really interesting to read, but I wonder how it’s like to read it from your point of view. Does the book describe every single death? Are there any motives for why Ben’s going on a killer spree? Does Ben have a certain pattern to the way he kills people? Does Ben attack a certain group of people?
Julie: Your book is very similar to mine. In both of our books the main character is hiding something about themselves or someone else. From my book Theresa find these letters that Garrett wrote, the man that she is seeing, and he has no idea that Theresa has the letter. I also agree with you that Lucy should’ve told someone, just like Theresa should’ve told Garrett in the beginning. Do you think that Lucy is going to regret it if she never goes on a date with Josh?
Elle: In my book Theresa took a chance by going to a city where she doesn’t know much to search for Garrett. It was very similar to how Mark takes chances also. Do you think that you would ever think twice about taking chances in the future? Do you think that the parents will find out what happened? Why did Mark agree to do what his friend said?
Viv: haha. Ben isn't the killer. Ben is the reporter. Henri is the killer. The book doesn't describe every death exactly the way it is, but it describes a lot of his killing. The only motive that Henri has is he has a fettish for that feeling that he gets when his victims are on that spit second between life and death. He kills the people in different ways.
mikaela: It is always terrible when the classic 'new person comes, friends the outcasts, dumps the outcasts for popularity' story happens. Some people just never learn from these stories, in real life as well as other stories. I suppose the reason authors keep using this plot in books and movies is because it gives us a feeling of disbelief that somebody would ever do something like that, even though it happens in real life.
I'm not quite done with my book yet, but so far Ben found the tracking device that Henri put in him so that he would always know where Ben is. Ben took it out and taped it to a taxi. Now Ben has moved to a new place to finish writing the book so that he wasn't in danger of Henri killing him. Amanda decided that she was going to show up at the hotel. She wanted to tell Ben she is pregnant. If i were Amanda right now I would be very happy, but I would also be very scared. If I were Ben on the other hand I would be compleatly scared and I would take Amanda and run in hopes that Henri wouldn't be able to find us.
Viv. Im like you. I would not like to be trapped in a basement like Max is either. I, on the other hand I am closterphobic, so I wouldn't be able to sit down there that long. It also sucks that he has to have someone else tell him what the weather is like, I like knowing what it is like outside.
VivienTen: I agree with you completely on going insane. To be stuck below the ground in a basement with no window to the outside world or any source of information besides Liesel. If I would have to be concealed, it would be hard for me to not have a source of fresh air, as well as entertainment.
Viv: I would like to read your book. It's interesting to me that the book is told from the point of veiw of death. It is also neat how it takes place so long ago. I like books like this and I think I would enjoy reading it. Did you like it? Would you read more books like this?
The next thing that happened is that Max is being hunted down by the doctors at the school. They are trying to kill her because she escaped from the school where she was created. She needed to get out because she was sick of them doing tests and experiments on her. A local veterinarian Frannie O'Neil saw Max running through the woods and ran after her to see what was wrong. When Frannie was getting closer she ran because she was frightened, when you have been tortured you can't trust anyone.
Myles: I think that your character is pretty much the same as the character in my book. The kids name in my book is Chris. Our characters seem to be a lot alike because i think that they are sort of sick of people in general. It sounds like max just wants to run away for a while. That’s what the character in my book does. He just runs away to Alaska and never talks to his family again.
now in my book Max is starting to trust Frannie and her friend. I think she's earning there trust because they gave her food and clothing to wear. They also have given her shelter to stay safe from the people from the school who are hunting her done and they also have her brother Mathew. So Max also wants to save her brother and she thinks that Frannie and her friend can help. Max is afraid if she tells to much the doctors from the school will also kill Frannie besides her.
Now in my book Frannie had asked Max if she could do an examination. Frannie had wanted to know if Max was mostly bird or mostly human. Frannie found out that Max is a human with bird DNA mixed in. Her organs are small to make her light for flying, her bones are hollow and if she were to reproduce she would lay eggs. She has the biggest wing span which is about nine feet wide.
Now Max had Frannie and her friend(kit)take her back home which is the school and so they did. She wanted them to stop three miles back down the road from the school but they were persistent and kept on going. They got to a chain link fence ten feet high with concertina wire on top. Max lifted Frannie over the top and tried to lift kit but he was to heavy. Then Frannie and Max went in the the School and rescued a whole bunch of kids. To take home with and far away from the School to be safe.
Jared and his friend have been planning this skate trip for a while and at the time that they were about to leave to go skate, Jared's friend had a girl that always blew him off and never actually wanted to hangout but the one night that they were about to leave she wanted him to come over so jared had to drop him off. Jared then decided he would go skate by himself.
When Jared goes on a trip by himself, he goes to this place called Paranoid park. I guess it is some skate park that is kind of run-down and Jared says that place is where all the "hard" skaters go and skate and chill. Jared doesn't fit in to that crowed exactly.
After Jared sat around and just scoped out his surroundings and everyone that is at the place, someone came up to him and was asking him a bunch of questions about him and who he is. Jared didn't feel to comfortable, but he kept talking to him. After, Jared lets him use his board.
At this moment of the book, Jared decided to go with the "hard" skater and go do dangerous things. They jumped on a train and rode it until this security guard that was watching the train spotted them. At that time, Jared was scared on what was going to happen next. The guy he was following jumped off and was fighting with the guard.
Denton-Do you practice and life weights as much as he does before the next season? If you had a chance to go to a D1 college would you just keep working hard and not take any steroids or anything that can get you kicked out. I wouldn't if I had the chance to go to a D1 college. That would ruin anyones chance of making it there.
Adam- I think that would be sweet as a kid to get to talk to a famous sports player that tells you everything you need to know. How would you feel if you got to talk to someone famous? Would you think it would be fun to be a kid reporter like Stevie and Susan are? I think that would be a sweet thing to do.
Mikaela: I agree with you about disliking Heather. If one of my friends would do that to me I would not take them back eathier. Thats not cool of Heather to dump her first friend she made when she moved. I remember when i moved here the first friend i made wass Mason Miller. I am still really good friends with him and I hope we will be forever.
Adam: I also think it would be awesome to become a starting pitcher in the MLB too. It had to take alot of hard work to become a starter from a nobody. He had to put hours abd hours into baseball.
Myles, your novel also seems very interesting to me. It seeems strange how a girl could look human and have bird DNA. I do have a couple questions though. How did Frannie become half human and half bird? Is she the first one to be half human and half bird? Why did Frannie and Max need to rescue a bunch of kids from a school?
Maranda: Do you know why Henri wants to kill Ben? If I was been I would move to a city far, far away. Why do you think that Amanda hasn’t told Ben yet that she is pregnant? Do you think that once Ben finds out that Amanda is pregnant, that he will be excited? At this point I would hate to be Ben.
Steven: Being that i have also read the book. I also agree that Eustace should have explored the island. The neat part was that the dragon was Eustace. Eustace should have listened to his cousin that the places you go could be dangerous. I also liked that the diary entries were in the book so you got an idea what Eustace thought. Eustace is a little weakling and cannot fight to save his life.
Miranda: If I was Ben I would be really mad to find a tracking device on me. But I wou;d also be scared because I would know Henri is right behind me coming to kill me. I think I would go a different way so I would know there is as little chance as I can get for Henri to find me
Miranda: I agree wih Zack. If I found out that someone had put a tracking device on me I would freak out. In my book the kid runs away to Alaska. I think that his parents should have put a tracking device on him so they could find him when they needed to talk to them.
