  1. Lilly is experiencing a lot of loss in the book. Jon has disappeared and was never found. Now, her mother has cancer. Lilly’s parents want her to do something with her life. Once Jon had disappeared, the family left Edgewater and never came back. They aren’t planning on going back either. Lilly decides to take up swimming. She’s very good and it and her teacher even ends up giving her private lessons. Lilly’s mother continues to get worse and worse. Lilly doesn’t talk to too many people, only a few girls from the swim team. She usually just likes the comfort of her dog, Wilma. Lilly’s mother passed away. It was very difficult for her and her family. I can relate because I have lost both of my grandparents within the past two years. It’s hard to pick yourself up and move on with your life when someone you loved so much is gone. I can relate to all the pain Lilly is going through. The years passed and Lilly grew older. She turned into a very smart and pretty girl. She still lived at home with her father and a family friend. Lilly has turned 18. She will be attending college in the fall. Lilly felt pain when she lost Jon and her mother, but she never let it out. Wilma always curled up beside her at night when she was sleeping. One night, Wilma didn’t wake up. This was the tipping point for Lilly. She let out all of the pain from all of her losses. It was very to lose Wilma. I didn’t like that part of the story. Lilly had so much loss. I didn’t think she deserved to lose someone else close to her, even if it was a dog.

  2. Lilly meets Cam. She falls in love with him the first time she laid eyes on him. Her father doesn’t approve. He likes Cam, but it’s almost like he’s losing someone else. He sees how happy his daughter is and allows her to see Cam. Eventually, the two of them get married. Lilly makes a long, hard choice. She wants to take Cam to Edgewater. I admire Lilly for this. Edgewater is where all of her childhood memories take place, where she grew up, where she lost her first love. It means something special to her, but it also brings back a lot of pain. It takes a lot of courage to fast your past and I think that Lilly is very brave. Lilly takes Cam to all of her favorite spots. She also tells Cam about Jon and he realizes how much hurt she’s been through. After all of the hurt that Lilly has been through, I am happy that she found Cam. He takes care of her and loves her. I’m glad they are together.

  3. Cam and Lilly end up having children. The rest of the book talks about them raising the children and the hard times they went through together. I liked this book a lot. It started out slow and confusing, but it ended up very good. It was separated into different parts, but I think that’s what helped make it a good story. The ending of the book was very surprising. I can’t say what happens, but it was totally unexpected. The epilogue was confusing. I had to read it several times. But it made sense to me after a bit. It was very touching. I liked this book a lot and I would recommend it to anyone.

  4. The next section of my book, Population 485 by Micheal Perry, is titled My People. This section is talking about how he is trying to blend in with the people of New Auburn. He had moved away for 12 years to be a writer and now has moved back to this small, Wisconsin town. I can connect to this because I want to move away from Plymouth for college and a little while after, but then move back here later on in life. I agree with the author saying you do not know how good or bad your town is, until you have had a different expierience. I also like how he tells the story of the many people that we meet in the story as we read. This builds on the plot and lets us get know the charecters.

  5. The final section of my book is called Sarah. This section was about the main charecters brother's girlfriend, who he later marries. The story was telling how one year when the fire department had it's yearly banquet. Jed brought a blond haired girl to the banquet that he had said nothing about. All of the other locals want to know who she is and how long the two have been dating. I can relate to how the author is happy that his brother got a girlfriend. I feel the same way now that my sister is getting married. I can also relate to Jed because he has a dream to live in the country and have a fun time country living. I want to know if the author is going to make a book to follow this one. I really liked this book.

  7. On meg's first post, my book is the same way with kissing someone. When Frankie losses Matt she doesn't talk to anyone and doesn't know or want t think how she is gonna live with out him. Frankie also picks up an activity after Matt dies, which is picking ip sea glass like Matt did. Even though this is something to get her up from crying, it also doesnt help in the way that since Matt always talked about sea glass and collected it. It brings pack memories about him that Frankie doesn't want to forget but hurts to the point she can't go on. It also hurts because Matt would make necklaces and brackets with the glass and frankie just wish Matt hadn't passed away. -emilie Harvey

  9. While finishing the book Sam and Frankie a still in a small fightt but right when they get home from Florida Frankie calls Sam to come over so they can talk. when Sam gets there Frankie takes M in to Matt's room. Sam is very unsure about going in his room since no one has touched it since he died, except when Frankie would lay in his bed and cry. But when Frankie takes Sam in the room, Sam just fallows. Sam tells Frankie how she is sorry for how she didn't tell her about her and Matt. Frankie then says how she was sorry who she over reacted. And could she the way Matt looked at Sam and how much he really loved her. After they talk they are both crying. Then Frankie takes out Matt's favorite red sea glass necklace that he wore everyday and never took it off. Frankie tells Sam that Matt would want her to have it. By the ending of the book I couldn't stop crying, and the ending of the book was just perfect. I would tell anyone that likes books that hit deep on your heart to read. I would say it is one of the best I have ever read. It has romance, death, self problems, and friendship, and teen problems in one. I connected with the boom very well and suggest it to everyone.

  11. This is a respons to meg's in blog 3. That when someone dies people grow close but also have the times where perts or things can bring them apart because one doesnt want to bring up that memory. Like in meg's book when they start to move because they spend more time together. Like as in my boom where Frankie and Sam go downtown to shop, I think that by them doing that they are trying to move on to the future and not linger in the past with Matt. But right when they get off the bus downtown, Sam sees the shops that Matt would talk about all the time when he would come home. So right away Sam wants to go in there, so when Sam asks if they can stop in Frankie gets upset since she is trying to move on. I can see where Frankie could get mad, but I also see the point with Sam. She loved to read and when Matt was still around they would talk about books a lot and say lines from books. So for Sam to get a chance to go there and look at the same books Matt may have looked at would be special for me so I could see how she would want to go there.

The characters in my book can relate, somehow, to Cam and Lily. For example Vanessa in Impulse lost someone too, her mother, just like Lily lost her first love. Also, Edgewater seems to be a place that brings her pain, the characters in my book are in a mental health facility because of the pain in their lives. Also, one of the male characters in my book is falling for Vanessa, just like Cam and Lily.

My book is somewhat similar because the three main characters in my book all had to leave home to live in the mental facility. It may not be very similar but has the same connection of leaving home. And I also agree, I want to move away for college but I don't know that I'd want to move back home after. But I do agree with I the author saying you do not know how good or bad your town is, until you have had a different expierience.

  14. This is a response to Emilie May 27, 2011 10:00 AM. The main character in my book could relate to the loss of a loved one. The main character in my book lost him mom. Although it is not a touchy subject in the book. I don't think my character really realizes that his mom is gone. Instead thinks that she will be gone for awhile. I think that they think differently about things is because my character has autism.

  16. This is a response Alex Huibregtse May 25, 2011 12:31 PM. Is Jed apart of the fire department? I also can relate to family members getting married because my brother just got married. I can also relate to the country part. I live in the country but i don't like it. I think it depends on who you are.

When I was reading your post I was thinking what I would do if I was keeping a secret from a friend. I think that even though I know it would hurt them, I would tell them anyway. I know that if someone were keeping a secret from me I would want to know, and get really mad when they didn’t tell me. I guess it depends on how serious the secret. Like how stealing a cookie is a little less vital to know than something like I killed your mother. This book sounds very interesting. I really want to know what this secret is.

  18. I’m glad that Kat was able to recover all the paintings except one, which she had no idea where it was. I was sort of surprised to learn that Nick was in a way spying on Kat and her friends for his mom, who was the lady who Kat told about her dad, with Interpol, but he had said he liked Kat. So right before Kat left the room with the paintings she left Nick to defend himself from the guards. I thought that was kind of mean, but then again he did sort of deserve it. I was surprised when Kat went to meet Taccone, she told him the paintings were in an abandoned building. So he went to retrieve them and he was ambushed by the police, Kat had turned him in. I did not see that coming. I thought it was very nice of whomever; this Visily Romani person is, to give Kat the last painting that she did not retrieve at the Henley museum. I thought this was a very good book; it was something different from what I have read before.

  19. This book was awesome! I really liked the mystery to the story and how it reminds the readers of the disturbing reality to what humans are capable of creating. However, I did not like the hypocritical law enforcement. How can they bust someone for drinking and driving if they to are partying it up at each others' houses after work and have to drive themselves back home later that night? I don’t know about anyone else but whenever I read a book there is always one thing that seems to annoy me and when I figure out what it is I just can’t seem to enjoy the book anymore. For Postmortem, the thing that annoyed me was how self-centered the main character was. She was a really good investigator but she could never accept anything when it related to her. Even though I found that one thing to annoy me in the beginning of the book I still enjoyed reading it because the main character started to realize her egocentric personality when she had to take care of her 10 year old niece, Lucy, and started to become more open to all possibilities and the world around her. This book was amazing. It was the biggest book I have read in my whole life and it makes me so happy that I’m not afraid of big books anymore! =)

I can relate my book to yours because my book had a lot of mystery to it. Throughout the book was a mystery who killed the dog. And then i can also relate the investegator character in your book too. The main character in my book was only 16 but he was investigating the murder of his neighbors dog. I like these sort of books because they keep you interested because you want to figure out the mystery or the answer to the big question.
