  1. My book, "Dragon" by Clive Cussler, reminded me alot of the book "Bourne Conspiracy" by Robert Ludlum mainly because most spy books are pretty much the same. But I thought that the main characters in both books were similar and the main storylines were also very alike. And, the things that the final villans were trying to do was effectivly the same thing; Nuke the US. Both books also shared a rare thing where they both had sections where the reader had the point of view of someone who was about to die (for whatever reason) and then later the cause of that person's death and the aftermath of that one person dieing ended up saving alot more people's lives.

  2. Thank goodness that Kate finally explained herself to Matt. Now, elated from his stress, he will do much better on ship. Those glowing squids that they saw mating were really eerie sounding. I was a bit skeptical when I read about the life in outer space. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised as in all the books there's life in unimaginable places. I never thought of flying squids that have air sacks full of lifting gas. But yet there they were in Skybreaker. Maybe there is primitive life in outer space. And if so, does the government hide it from us?

  3. The tether seems to be getting one problem after another. Now there is space barnacles on it?! I think that it would have been cool to see those, if not a bit strange. I just know that the line is probably going to snap. It would be just the group's luck if that happened. If that did happen I wonder how they would get back to Earth? The ship has no rockets because scientists didn't think that anything could go wrong with the tether. Maybe someone in real life should take the tether idea to heart so more than rich people could visit outer space. The only problem would be the correct alloy.

  4. I really don't understand why Gabriel and Ivy are so upset that Bethany is in love with Xavier? Gebriel thinks that it would be harmful to the mission, but it's not. Ivy likes Xavier more than Gabriel, but she still worries about Bethany, being the mother figure as she is. Xavier doesn't want any harm to come to Bethany, and cares deeply about her, so why do they think it's so wrong? They think this puppy love wont last between Bethany and Xavier, but you can tell that they both are in it for the long run.

  5. In my book, Cal has now been accused of shooting his uncle and hurting his sister. Cal had no proof that he didn't do it so he ran off and now lives in an abandoned house. This section makes me think about why Cal's uncle is saying these things, like that Cal shot him. I wonder if Cal's uncle actually shot himself just to make Cal get in trouble so that he doesn't have to worry about his finding the Ormand Singularity. I can predict that Cal is going to be in hiding until he can prove himself not guilty.

  6. I like the character Dirk Pitt because the author makes him out to be so much of a hero. At one point another character in the book is describing him as someone who would gladly kill himself if he thought it would save "Cherry pies, baseball, and the American Way". In the book he was the project leader of a secret underwater base that was researching how things lived two miles underwater. Then he went on to save the world almost by hiimself. He is resourceful, using what he has near him to take down things that most people thought couldn't be taken down at all. He also apparently knows people that are very important in the government because his uncle can walk in and out of the Pentagon whenever he wants.

  7. In response to Henry,
I agree that most spy books are similar. I read a book called Stormbreaker and the villain wanted to send computers filled with disease around Great Britain. This could potentially happen! The disease was a hybrid flu with no vaccine. I'm wondering if people have actually tried to do any of the stuff that people do in books. It would be a terrible thing if terrorists actually tried to do these things.

  8. Bobby being left alone at night makes me think of when I was home alone. I was eating a sandwich, just like Bobby, but mine was lunch not just a snack. I remember being worried that something bad might happen, but nothing did. I also remember watching TV. To get my mind off of things, just like Bobby. That is what Bobby being left at home reminded me of. -Stephanie Carbaugh

  9. This section makes me think about how awkward it is when you feel like you are being watched, because Bobby can watch anyone and they wouldn’t even know he was watching them. They wouldn’t know because he is invisible. It is really odd when someone is secretly watching, and you can’t see them. In the book Bobby is able to watch anyone on the street with them not knowing that they are being watched or followed. If I found out someone had been secretly watching me, I would try to avoid that area. I would not like to be watched by someone like Bobby who is watching people in the book. -Stephanie Carbaugh

  10. Now that Cal has to be hiding in an old house all alone, he has had some time to figure out the secret messages his dad has gave him in the form of a picture. After a couple of weeks, Cal has figured out only that the deck of cards that the waiter is holding in the picture is a 21. This section of the book made me annoyed because is was talking about how Cal kept looking at the picture trying to figure it out. The annoyed me because the jack and ace made a perfect 21 and I knew that right away. I really don't understand how Cal's dad expects Cal to figure out these riddles if he could barely even figure out the 21 part. These are all the thoughts I have on my book right now

  11. In my book, “Love Rosie”, I last left off talking about how Rosie took a trip to Boston and it ended terribly. After she leaves, a few months later Alex gets married, Rosie being his “best woman”. When she goes home for a while after the wedding, she finally meets someone, a man named Greg. They start dating and eventually get married, while Alex’s marriage is coming to an end, after having a kid and many fights with his wife. Alex and Sally get a divorce, and Rosie seems to be happy as ever with Greg. This is until she finds out what he is actually doing on the weekends instead of his supposed “business trips”. Alex comes to visit for Rosie’s parent’s fiftieth anniversary party, and finds out what Greg has done. He finally realizes how much he cares for her, and writes her a letter telling her that. He leaves it on Rosie’s kitchen table and heads back to Boston. I’m really happy that he finally realized that Rosie was the right choice for him instead of sally. What makes me kind of annoyed though is the fact that he didn’t tell her in person when he had the chance. He told her through a letter, which could be taken in so many different ways.

  12. I dislike Jake Thorn, because he thinks that he can do anything and have anyone that he wants. He acts like he’s better than everyone else and that just doesn’t agree with me. He may be 18, but flirting with a teacher is just messed up, no matter the teacher or student. I may be takening a shot in the dark here, but I think Jake is part of the dark forcess of hell, that are reaking havic on the earth, and he just happens to be in Venus Cove. I don’t like this guy one bit. He thinks that he can have Bethany, that Xavier is nothing. Jake may be the only thing that wouls be able to separate them.

  13. I wonder why David wanted to join the air force. With how skinny he is and everything he went through when he was younger he shouldn't be going. In my opinion if he wanted to do something he should join something so he can gain more muscle before he starts.I'm happy that he at least took one week instead of going the same night he was recruited. He can at least say bye to his foster family instead of deserting them.

  14. I am responding to Paulina's blog, I agree with you that Jake Thorn shouldn't be flirting with a teacher. In my opinion students and teachers should keep the barrier between them. Maybe once he is out of high school it wouldn't be as bad, but it is still pretty gross in my mind. I think that he probably is apart of the dark forces of hell too, but i'm not completely sure. The book you are reading is very interesting in my mind.

  15. Sophie, I agree with you that Alex should have told her in person. In a letter, there are so many things it could mean. Alex should have told her how he really feels about her at the party before he left for Boston. Also I think Greg is a total jerk for cheating on Rosie. Rosie thought everything was so great between them, and it turns out, nothing could be worse than a cheating husband. Hopefull Rosie leaves Greg and goes after Alex and maybe this story could have a happy love story after all.

  16. After Alex returns to Boston for a few weeks, he notices that he never received a reply to the letter that he left for Rosie. He emails her and finds out that she never found the letter, and it mysteriously disappeared. Alex then receives an email from Greg, telling him that he found the letter addressed to Rosie, and he read it. Greg told Alex to back off and leave their marriage alone. Alex does what Greg tells him to of course, because he doesn’t want to hurt Rosie. So after that, Rosie eventually lets Greg return home and she forgives him. Rosie and Alex still remain in close contact, except for the fact that Alex has to hide his feelings for her. After a few years, Rosie and Greg are about to spend their anniversary together when Rosie finds out from her brother Kevin that Greg booked the weekend in a hotel for the two of them. She gets so excited, but then Greg never says anything about the trip, and says he has a business meeting that weekend. Kevin, Rosie’s brother sees Greg at the hotel with another woman. This is the final breaking point for Rosie, and she divorces him. It makes me really sad that Rosie didn’t just dump him the first time and then it happened again. In a way though, it makes me really excited because now she has a chance with Alex.

  17. I think the relationship between Dirk and Al is interesting because they both think the same way. Dirk was thinking that they should take a submarine to chase a bad guy because their boat wasn't fast enough. By the time he got there, Al was already in the sub ready to go. Another instance is where they are sneaking around the compound Al goes and makes a distraction without being told. Dirk is then able to sneak inside and save the scientist.

  18. The character Dirk is like Kurt Austin in the book "Inca Gold". They both do daring rescues in order to save someone in peril. They are also alike in that they work in the same field of oceanography. One thing that makes Dirk unique from Kurt is that he has a passion for collecting classic cars. Kurt is alot younger and more athletic than Dirk so he can do more exciting adventures. They are both daring do-gooders who fight for the good of all mankind.

  19. In the book “Hero” the main character Zach Harriman is still looking up about information on his dad’s plane crash. I really don’t understand why Zach would still be looking up information when he already knows what happened. This gets me to think that there is something more behind the accident that Zach still doesn’t know about. I actually like the idea of Zach still looking up information on his dad’s death because it really wants me to keep reading to see what happens next.

  20. A scene that just took place in the book “Hero” was that Zach just got into another fight with Spence. It all started at basketball practice when Zach wasn’t playing to well and made his team run. Spence was on his team and that made him very angry. After practice Zach and Spence got into a fist fight and Spence beat the crap out of Zach. I didn’t really like this part because I thought Zach was going to win for sure. At this point I thought that Zach was going to realize that he has a special gift or power that he was going to be able to use to beat up Spence. I wish the author would have made this point in the story where Zach would have realized that he has super powers or something.

  21. Angie, I am responding to your response of my book. I agree with you, and think Jake needs to back off. Now he thinks he has a shot with Bethany, because she's been so nice to him. Unfortunatly, Xavier, Bethany's boyfriend got hurt playing rugby and has to stay in bed for a week and has to have crutches. Jake asked her if she would like to go with him, and I don't like it. Xavier wants Bethany to go, so then they both don't have to miss it, but Xavier should just get his crutches and go to prom. So he ma not be able to dance, but at least he will be the one going with her and not Jake.

  22. I am responding to Henry's blog about Dirk Pitt.
I have also read books with this character in it and he has shown some of the same characteristics as you described. He also mentioned that his unlce could walk in and out of the Pentagon whenever he wants. In one of his other books, it is mentioned that Dirk's father is a very influential Senator. I have also noticed that Dirk is best friends with the Vice President.

  23. I am responding to Mitch's blog about when Cal was in the house alone and trying to figure out the secret messages his dad gave him. This part of the book also annoyed me because it was obvious what it meant and it took too long for the author to get to the point. I think that Cals' dad could have made the riddles easier for him to figure out knowing that his son would have a hard time decoding them. I don't think Cal is necessarily the brightest character in the book but when he's facing problems he's street smart. I wonder how long it will take Cal to figure out the rest of the riddles his father gave him?

  24. Responding to Sophie, That reminds me of a book I read last quarter called The Beach House. It had a twisting storyline. There were a lot of relationship issues and the couples kept breaking up and getting back together. It seems like your book will have one huge event that will have everything make sense. In the Beach House, a huge event ocurred and changed the whole story.

  25. Think this part of the book is extremely important because it demonstrates how caring Angel is. She is also very curious and is easy to talk to. Every single one of her customers ends up telling her about their whole life story. I think that's a neat thing. They all trust her to keep in confidential and she always says they are her customer and she is just a business women, thus the conversation must be kept confidential.

  26. My book was AMAZING! I disliked Kelly in the book because she drank lots of beer at this party, she claimed to not like Tony since he cheated on her- yet she got back together with him, and she didn't even remember Matt's name. In one scene Matt,Sean, and Coop took a picture of Mandy, their first live naked girl, when she was "getting busy" with Tony in the room. Which they were hiding in a closet to take this picture.

  27. Clay, is Zach the "hero" or not?
What did Zach find out about his dad? What's your favorite highlight in this book? Is there a Villian at all? Why do you think the author called the book HERO?

  29. David was a workaholic. He put everything he had into work. When he decided to leave his family for the army i thought he was insaine. With all he went through as a kid in my opinion he would have a lot of problems getting used to it. I hope David knows what he is getting himelf into.

  30. Right now in my book I am very confused. Jimmy’s father is supposed to be in jail right now. But Jimmy’s dad is not in jail he is driving around and doing what he wants. I am confused because jimmy is still with his father even though his father broke out of jail, and jimmy knows about it. One more thing I am confused about is Jimmy’s father has a lot of money on him. Where is his father getting all of this money did he steal it I don’t but know thing I know is that Jimmy should not be with his father right now.

  31. Right now I dislike crab jimmy’s father. Crab is always doing things behind jimmy’s back. For example crab has jimmy walk to crab’s house so that crab can meet one of his long lost buddies. In my opinion I think that crab is buying drugs or using drugs. Crab goes out very late at night and then comes back and does not tell jimmy where he was.

  32. In my book Witch and Wizard I really don’t like this “New Order” and then the “One Who judges”. The “One Who Judges” under the “New Order” is suspecting that Whit and Wisty have bribed someone to have their test results come back “normal”. They must expect them to come back “freak” or something. Their witches and didn’t even know it and there classified “Extremely Dangerous”. It all seems extremely ridicules that this “New Order” is all obsessed with witches and wizards. The “New Order” seems to be some type of political group that took power. I want to know why they are wasting their time on witches and wizards.

  33. In my book Witch and Wizard it is really unrealistic when Whit and Wisty are at their 2nd hearing. When all of a sudden a song pops into Wisty’s head and a plague appears which turns into leeches and then a huge hurricane appears. I get they have uncontrollable powers, but that seems like a bit much. But you know it all has to disappear and then instead of their execution being when they are 18 it is well… tomorrow. All then all of this happens in about 3 minutes or less. When I was reading it I actually couldn’t help but laughing and thinking really?
