My new book that I am reading is called Message in a Bottle. When Theresa goes on vacation she finds a bottle with a letter in it that is very touching. She is a reporter that posts articles into the newspaper about different topics that interest her. When Theresa posts the letter into newspapers I am very surprised of all of the responses that she gets back. She got up to 250 letters and multiple phone calls from people. I can’t believe that the letter touched that many lives of others. There was one lady who called in and said that she had found the exact same letter three years ago. I don’t understand how it is possible that it gets to other people because the person who wrote it would have had to send multiple bottles with the same copy into the ocean.
So far in the story there have been a few more characters mentioned. Apparently his mom and dad are divorced and have been for a few years now. (The story never said why they where divorced) His dad lives with another woman that is a teacher. I dont think John likes his dad as much as his mom and doesnt like the woman living with his dad. Since John (Main character) doesn’t like school and goes by life with “High C’s” he thinks that the woman may try to make him like school and force him to get A's. His mom on the other hand is who he lives with. I dont think his mom is like any ordinary mom beacuse she is always some where doing somthing that John usually doesnt know about. John explained her as a hot babe that’s job is a modeler. He doesn’t like the idea of her holding a tooth paste bottle up while in her underwear as a picture on the back of a magazine. She will also be gone for three months for a movie and John will be all alone. I dont think it would be a good idea to leave for that long beacuse you have no idea on what your child is doing BY: DYLAN SHILTS
Continuing my book, the crimes are continuing on and are only going to get larger by the count. The killer is now planning to blow up the San Fansisco city hall. He also sent an e-mail to Cindy, trying to recruit her to their cause. Apparently the killer doesn't know that Cindy happens to be friends with the Homicide Lieutenant, which is a very dumb move on his part. Now it is only a matter of time before he will get caught, but I imagine that he will get away with blowing up city hall before that happens. He is an inside terrorist with a very good-sounding reason. Unfortunately, he is doing more harm than good for the long term as his cause will be looked at as a very violent, terrorist cause to take down the rich rather than a peaceful protesting to bring down the greedy.
In my book "Shooting Star" my favorite character is Jomo. He is a smart young man that works hard. I like him because he tries very hard to achieve his goals. Jomo has the skills to be a great football player but the coach told him that he doesn't have the heart. Another reason I like him is because he takes criticism very well. He learns from his mistakes and that helps him become better.
I think that the relationship between Chris and his parents is very interesting because it does not make sense that he wouldn't tell his parents where he was going and why. He leaves his college dorm room and sends back all the mail that his parents sent them and doesn't tell them where he was going. I think instead of not telling them where he was going, he should have told them something. He didn't even call them at all.
I learned a lot from the section I just read because it gave a lot of new information. First, now I know what the rest of the book is going to be about when they said the voyage they are going on to find the lords. Another important event that happened is when they arrived at the first island and got taken by slave traders and they found the first lord in the prison cell they are getting held in. While they are in there they see a group of slaves on boats get surrounded by green mist and they disappear when the mist disappears. I think this is important because they will try to find out where they are and save them. Those are some of the things I learned and how I think they will influence the rest of the story.
BLOG 1 The name of my book is “The Cruisers.” I’ve read a few pages now and this is how the book starts out. The Cruisers is a book about a small newspaper gang within their school that fights with other newspapers and they also get in trouble in school and starts fights all the time. The four gang members are in a very big academy named Da Vinci Academy. If they’re in such a big school and cause this much trouble why would the school not kick them out? The four people in the gang are very strange and like to cause trouble. The principle doesn’t think they try in school because they are only thinking about trouble. I don’t think trouble is what they like but they somehow seem to run into trouble as they go along. DYLAN SHILTS
The character Mark reminds me of myself because he is the kind of person who always wants to take chances even though he could get in troube or hurt. I am the kind of person who likes to take chances even though bad things could happen. Also Mark tells his friend Ted to do something crazy while his parents are gone. He tells him that he should throw a party and open his parents liquor cabinet. Even though they could get in a lot of trouble for drinking they still do it. I think that it is a bad idea for them to throw this party because I think the parents will come home early or the neighbors will catch them.
In my book "Shooting Star" the character I most admire is Jayson. Jayson is the best play on the football team and he made Varsity as a sophomore. Jomo looks up to Jayson. They have been best friends since they were little. Jayson teaches Jomo things that he needs to know and helps him become a better player. I think that when Jayson helps his team it makes him a better team player. Even though he is the best player on the team, he makes sure that everyone gets credit for the win even if they didn't play.
I really dislike the idea that Chris is going to live in the Alaskan Wilderness because he has no survival experience and he does not have any survival gear.I could see if he was going out there for maybe a few days but he isn't. He is going to live out there. When you give all your savings away and burn your stuff, you know that your not coming back to your old life. I think that he should have at least taken some extra food or a gun along to help him get food but he didn't. Im not sure what Chris is thinking.
I think that the relationship between Eustace and Reepichep is interesting. I think it is interesting because of how the way their relationship develops. At the beginning Reepichep is making fun of Eustace and saying he shouldn’t be here and to back to England. That goes on for awhile then Reepichep is trying to teach him how to fight and they start to get along because they are working together now. I think as the story goes on their relationship will develop more and they will become better friends and work together in the rest of the story.
There’s a section in my novel where Max is concealing himself in Liesel’s basement, and it paints a picture on how Max has to survive like that. This section makes me think about what it would’ve been like because it probably wasn’t enjoyable. It wasn’t just Max who had to hide during the World War II; other people from Jewish descent had to fight for their rights and lives. What Hitler did was horrible, in my opinion, and it’s horrible what so many people had to endure because of it. I enjoy how the book retails the past with Liesel’s childhood, so it gives the story a sort of innocent eye.
After reading another few pages, now Lieutenant Lindsay is falling in love with the Deputy Director of Homeland Security. Either that, they'll become greatly acquainted and move on, or the Director will die in one of the murderer's attacks and the case will become far more personal to Lindsay. I don't know how it would work if they actually made it to marriage, since Lindsay would stay in San Fransisco with her job and friends, unless the Deputy Director actually quit and settled with her in San Fransisco. Currently, I'm expecting him to die by the murderer or to leave back to Washington as 'a friend'. Who knows, he might leave and come back to Lindsay in one of the sequels.
The relationship between Melinda and her parents is interesting because it’s kind of hard to understand. It is hard to tell if she is close to her parents or not. I think that before she got raped at the party, they had a good relationship. After that happened though, I think that it all just went downhill. Her parents seem to be strict and really into their work, so I do not think that Melinda gets to see them very much. When her grades dropped and she skipped school, her parents kept yelling at her even though she wouldn’t respond. I think that her parents should have known that something was wrong due to her sudden behavior change. Examples of her changes are her being silent all of the time, and her grades slipping. Also, I think that they should have realized something when she wouldn’t hang out with her old friends, and wouldn’t even hang out with barely anyone at all. Maybe if her parents would have tried to talk to her, she might have been brave enough to tell them about her being raped.
So far in Water for elephants I have developed a feeling towards one of the main characters "August". I dislike August alot because I think he is a mean man that should never work with animals. He has so much anger built up that he take it out on his innocent wife Marlena, or the circus's animals, mostly the elephant. August is the biggest conflict in this story as well, because he causes people =to tear apart. August also finds out abou the relationship between Jacob and Marlena, and that is where the real story begins.
When Melinda told Rachel that Andy Evans (aka “IT”), raped her, It made me mad. Since Rachel is dating Andy, she didn’t believe Melinda when she told her. The whole time, Rachel was concerned, until she heard that Andy was the one who did it. I think that Rachel is acting incredibly selfish and insensitive because she yelled and Melinda, and told her that she was lying and was just jealous. It probably would have been a smarter idea if Melinda would have told Rachel before she got into a relationship with Andy. When I read that part, it did kind of seem like Melinda was making it up, and was just trying to get between them. Even though it did seem like that, Rachel should have taken Melinda seriously.
In my book I dislike the character Mark because he seems like a guy that gets in a lot of trouble. Just like when he thought he had that great idea of throwing a party and drinking at Teds house. Ted said it wasent a good idea but Mark was trying to convince him that it was fine and his parent wouldent be home so they wouldent get in trouble. I think that In my book I will relize that Mark isent a good friend. Also I think that I will read a lot about Mark getting in trouble.
Elle Klecka: I agree, you do like to take chances with things and what not. Also, you don't really care if you get in trouble for them either. Another thing is you kind of encourage other people to join you even if it is something you shouldn't do. Lastly I think your book sounds good. Also, I think i might enjoy reading that book of yours.
Now the cruisers are mad! John and his Posey have run into another newspaper “gang” that state their harsh opinions about blacks in a bad way. Their called “The sons of the Confederacy.” The Cruisers have noticed their harsh and mean opinions about blacks and are going to do something about it. I don’t think the sons of the Confederacy should write these things if they know blacks are in their school unless they want trouble. The Cruisers are inferior towards the sons of the Confederacy now and go to the principle about it because they know if they start a fight the whole soccer team will back the sons of Confederacy up. I think it was a good idea to go to the principle and not start a big fight because in the end it probably would end in 2 newspaper writers expelled from the academy. BY DYLAN SHILTS
One thing I learned in this story so far, that I can actually learn form in real life is the part where Jacob has everything, and then by losing his parents he has nothing. This is relavent to me because there is so many things in my life right now to be thankful of, and then for no reason they can be taken away. This also helps me realize that I must be independent to make something of myself in life. Also I can appreciate hard work. Jacob went to college during the great depression, and almost got his vetenary degree when his parents died. He picked himself up and did the first job that came in his path, and it teaches people to not be ashamed of what they are doing to survive.
Miles is like me because he plays football and his problems with coaches and family. Miles is the protagonist in the story. He is the protagonist because he is the main character. Miles does everything that he is told to do by the coaches and his parents. The coaches yells at him for not doing what they want. He tries to do anything at he can in his power. Comes a crossed problem with his family.
Now Theresa is out and about looking for different letters that are related or exactly like the one that she found. When she gets two other ones like it she has now decided that she is going to go and look for the writer, Garrett. This part in the book is going to be important because it is kind of like the turning point or a new step in her career. She is planning on going to the city from where the guy is from and trying to find him. Now that Theresa is doing this it really has to take a lot of courage to live her hometown and go and look for a guy who she has no idea of what he looks like.
I think that the relationship between the main character, Lucy, and her mom is not so good. They keep fighting constantly and Lucy’s mom always blames her for her problems and the bad things that happen to her, and most of the time Lucy doesn’t even cause the problems when it’s actually her mom’s own fault. I think that if the two could go back in time to fix their relationship they would, they would know that it would be hard, but at least they would try to.
The setting of the story is very important because it tells what their secret is, and the secret is that their house is basically a dumpster. It came to be like that because the mom would always keep so much junk and would get made if Lucy would try to get rid of any of it. Later on the clutter just keeps piling up and eventually there are piles so high that you can’t see out the windows. Without the setting there would have basically have been no secret.
I really like the idea of Death narrating the whole story. It's very original and entertaining how Death makes some jokes about part's of Liesel's life. In the story, Death isn't some evil being out there to kill us all, but he plays a neutral part. He's neither for or against someone dying. Whenever someone has died in the story, the narration is just factual without any feeling. It's a little strange to read something like that and not have sadness or anger hinting in the writing.
In the story there is a team with names that has nothing to do with their location. Like the Pirates they have no body of water around them. When I read that I started to think about your school names, Panthers. There are no panthers around Wisconsin. Why would someone call a school an animal that is not in your location in U.S? Naming a school something that has nothing to do with the location is regular for naming school.
I think I can make some predictions on my book. I think that Doyle is going to pitch in the World Series. I think this because he is the main character so far. Also his team manager says that when they put him into the most difficult situations he gets out of it. I also think that he will throw the game winning pitch in the World Series. These are the things I think are going to happen. - Adam Schmitz
I think that the relation between Stevie and Susan is interesting. They have been friends for a while because of their reporting job. Which they still can't accept the compliment that the other one tells them. Neither one of them believes that they are better than the other. This is why I think that their relationship is interesting. - Adam Schmitz
In my story so far, Billy is remenceing about how he used to have two dogs. Sudenly, the story goes back to Billy's childhood and he has just asked his parets for hound dogs. His father said that those dogs were too expensive and they didnt have the money at the time. Billy did not give up on asking, he asked and asked until his parents acctually thought he had a problem. Later that day they sat Billy down and told him that they dont think they will get a dog any time soon. Billy was heart broken, but he was more sad about what he put his parents through all of that time. - Andrew
After winter and when the hunting season started to begin, Billy culd hear the hound dogs and the hunters. Billy was being tormented by the sounds of hunting, the thing that he wanted so much. Billy began to beg his parents worse than before and they just kept saying no and putting his spirts down. One day his Dad came back home from the store, and billy rushed up to hm expecting candy. Billy was silent, his dad pulled out three traps so he could hunt without the dogs. Billy was so exstatic he began to set the traps rite away! The next day billy caught nothing but a stupit cat. - Andrew
When Billy got his traps, he was catching all sorts of rats and bunnies. Hopefully Billy doesnt catch another one of their pets. After a couple of days billy woke up and checked his traps. sure enough, one of his mothers prized hens was dead in the trap. After that Billy did that, he got a little talking to from his father and Billy had to move down to a near by area that was perfect for hunting. Billy caught rabbits, mice, rats, squirrels, but he couldnt catch a coon. - Andrew
If I were the killer I would have never called the parents of Kim. I would have let the modeling agency call them and handle everything that has happened. Then once they were where I wanted them I would have gone after them. I think that at some point in the book the killer must get caught, because the book isn't written in his point of view. It is written in a reporter's point of view in some chapters, and in others it is in a narrator's point of view for others. This kind of writing is very confusing because sometimes you cant tell the shift from the reporter to the narrator.

ReplyDeleteI think that the relation between Stevie and Susan is interesting. They have been friends for a while because of their reporting job. Which they still can't accept the compliment that the other one tells them. Neither one of them believes that they are better than the other. This is why I think that their relationship is interesting. - Adam Schmitz
ReplyDeleteIn my story so far, Billy is remenceing about how he used to have two dogs. - Andrew
ReplyDeleteAfter winter and when the hunting season started to begin, Billy culd hear the hound dogs and the hunters. - Andrew
ReplyDeleteWhen Billy got his traps, he was catching all sorts of rats and bunnies. - Andrew
ReplyDeleteBlogs checked. Be sure to note that I posted some students' blogs that were emailed to me since the website was not working on Friday.
ReplyDeleteIf I were the killer I would have never called the parents of Kim.
